Cherry Street Lofts - A Mixed Use Conversion

Groundbreaking took place this week for the long awaited development project known as Cherry Street Lofts. Located in Bridgeport, the site is a city block bordered by Cherry Street, Hancock Avenue, Railroad Avenue and Howard Avenue and visible from the I-95 corridor. The existing industrial buildings housed the American Gramophone Company from 1870 until 1934. When this project is complete, the six buildings will be the new home for 311 residential units, a charter school, tutor housing and a community building. The clean-up and adaptive use of this property will act as a catalyst for the revitalization of the Railroad Avenue Industrial District.
